Trans Morocco: a journey along the roads of Morocco to enjoy mile after mile
After leaving Tangeri and the Mediterranean sea, the road crosses the Mediterranean area of the Rif mountains, the Medium Atlas mountains and the High Atlas mountains, so immense and empty, but also rich of colors and geologic formations of rare beauty.
The mountains and the valleys slowly disappear and the road runs across the sand up to Taouz, the last Moroccan village at the edge of the desert, just on the frontier with Algeria.
The roads in the interior of the High Atlas mountains are just stones and earth trails that can be travelled over only by a 4x4 car or an enduro motorbike. They connect small traditional villages far away from the tourist routes, where the agriculture and the breeding are the only activities and the time seems to be stopped in an ancient age.
From sands of Toauz the journey go on to the west, along the Dades valley to the city of Ourzazate.
Here the road go to the south, crossing the Jbel Sarho and the Draa valley with its palm forests until the city of Zagora. Here the road become narrow and runs through the desert until the village of Mhamid where has an end swallowed by the sand of the Sahara desert.
Coming back just a stop in Marrakech, the most famous of the imperial towns, to prepare the return journey to Tangeri along the Atlantic coast.
A 4500 Km long journey along asphalted roads, earth tracks, stones roads and the compact sand trails which cross lonely landscapes and villages. A journey through the authentic Morocco to enjoy mile after mile.
